Hi, I’m Maureen Armstrong

Hi, I’m Maureen, a wild horse photographer deeply connected to the untamed spirit of America’s wild horses.
My love for horses began long before I ever picked up a camera. I spent my days at the barn with my horse, Autumn—a registered APHA Paint Horse—riding, showing, and building a bond that shaped who I am today. As a former grand champion in horsemanship, showmanship, and trail, that connection to horses runs through every part of my life and art.

After six months of research and planning, I set out on a wild horse journey that forever changed my path—or perhaps brought me back to the one I was always meant to follow. From the windswept ridges of Utah’s Onaqui Mountains to the open plains of Wyoming and the red dirt backroads of Montana, I’ve followed the hoofprints of history in search of the wild and free.

Each place, each herd, and each horse has a story, and it’s my mission to tell those stories through my lens—to reflect the essence of wildness and the beauty of freedom. I hope my photographs transport you into those quiet, sacred moments on the range and inspire a deeper awareness of the wild horses that still roam our lands.
